What is a Video Yearbook?
The video yearbook is a 45 minute tape covering the important events and activities at your school. We start taping at the beginning of school, and depending when you want the video delivered, we continue all the way through Graduation. We use students as our video yearbook producers, and they plan what will be in your video.
How much extra work is the video yearbook?
That depends on how much work you want to put in. Our unique program requires very little work from the school, unlike the print yearbook. We are responsible for the entire production of the video: from video taping, editing, securing the music and video copyrights, creating the graphics and duplicating the videos. The student producers will be responsible for the planning of the video content along with taking care of the administrative activities that go along with the video yearbook. Students will also be writing the script and doing the narration. However, for the school that has a video production class, or want their students to be more involved, our program is flexible enough to be integrated into the classroom.
Does the video yearbook replace our traditional print yearbook?
Absolutely not!!! By adding a video yearbook and/or CD-ROM yearbook to your traditional print yearbook, you will be upgrading your yearbook to a Multimedia Yearbook just in time for the new millennium.
Do we have to use you for our print yearbook also?
Absolutely not!!! Being the ONLY yearbook company that can offer print yearbooks, video yearbooks and CD-ROM yearbooks gives us the flexibility to put together the package that is best for your school. It is your choice.
Who shoots the video for the video and/or CD-ROM yearbook?
We have professional videographers who shoot the video, or we can use your students if you want to involve them.
How much does the video yearbook cost?
Just as your print yearbook cost depends on many variables, so does your Multimedia Yearbook. But to give you an idea, we have schools that can produce a Multimedia Yearbook for about the same cost as their print yearbook alone cost them!!! CD-ROM Yearbooks
What is a CD-ROM yearbook?
The CD-ROM yearbook combines the best of the print yearbook and the video yearbook onto an interactive CD-ROM. It contains text, photographs, video, and audio all interlaced together to provide a memory experience which has to be seen to be appreciated.
Do you have different CD-ROMS for the macintosh and PC computer platforms?
Every CD-ROM will play on either the Macintosh or PC platform. It does not matter which computer your students own.
Many of our students do not have a computer, why should we have a CD-ROM yearbook?
In the past a computer was considered by parents as a luxury item. Today, the computer is considered as a necessity for their students education. In December of 1996, the sales of CD-ROM's beat the sales of VCR's , 5 to 1, for the first time in history! Your students WILL have own a computer, if not now -- soon. As we all know, the traditional print yearbook is a memory product we will cherish for our entire lifetime. Unlike the print yearbook, if the CD-ROM yearbook is ever lost or destroyed it can easily be replaced by "running another copy". It does not require a complete press run like a book does. For the first time ever, the yearbook can always be replaced if needed! For the first time ever, the yearbook is absolutely available forever! Whether your student has a computer now, or not, they will be able to enjoy the memories preserved on the CD-ROM yearbook for the rest of their lives -- and their children's, and their children's children's, and their children's children's children's...... How long is the CD-ROM yearbook?
Since the CD-ROM yearbook is interactive, it is as long as you want to sit at the computer (or the TV CD-ROM player which is available now). This is a digital world now and there are new paradigms to discover! A typical CD-ROM yearbook will have 20 minutes of video embedded in it, along with the class photo of every student plus team photos and candid photos, along with all the text and audio added. Imagine this -- you click on an old friend 10 years from now, see their class photo, and then click on the audio button and you get to hear his/her voice deliver their special message from that year!!! You have got to experience it to believe it.

Who manufactures the print yearbook?
Friesens Yearbook is the manufacturer we use.
I have never heard of Friesens. Are they new?
No. Friesens has been in business since 1907, and they have been manufacturing school print yearbooks since 1955. They are located in Canada, and are one of the most highly respected book manufacturers in the world. Out of all the book manufacturers in the world, they were selected by the International Olympic Committee to manufacture the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Visitor's book.
But they are in Canada....(Canada!??)
Yes, we know, your yearbook representative would like you to think that Canada is a third world country!!! But they are not. And if they are good enough for the International Olympic Committee, doesn't it make sense that just maybe they are good enough for you!!!?
So who is Friesens -- what do they do?
Friesens is a book manufacturer. They produce books only. They do not manufacture rings, caps and gowns, announcements, or provide photography services, along with the myriad of "other products". They manufacture the best books you will find in the world!! As a matter of fact, you probably have several text books at your school which were manufactured by Friesens! Can we do our pages on computer?

Friesens accepts yearbooks on a variety of storage media including most Syquest disks as well as the 100MB Zip disks, and others. They support both Adobe PageMaker and QuarkXpress. I am used to my current vendor's procedures, why switch?
Well, as far as "procedures" go -- there is really no difference in procedures. As a matter of fact, we have taken a school's disk that they submitted to our competitor and were able to print pages that were of higher quality than what the school had received. That is how easy it is to "switch procedures"!!

That is a difficult question to answer. We do not know why our competitors choose to charge so much for their product!!!
